Rayudu: Transition from Mumbai Indians to CSK Feasible, Adding to Suspense Over Rohit Sharma’s IPL Future

Rayudu: Transition from Mumbai Indians to CSK Feasible, Adding to Suspense Over Rohit Sharma’s IPL Future

After Hardik Pandya was elected captain by the Mumbai Indians, Ambati Rayudu offered a new perspective on the possibility of Rohit Sharma joining the Chennai Super Kings. In an attempt to see Rohit move to CSK and enjoy the last stages of his IPL career, Rayudu—a former MI player himself—sent the cricket community on the internet into a tailspin on Monday. Unbelievably, only a few months ago, Rayudu supported Rohit’s decision to play for a further five or six years—but in a yellow jersey. For the past 11 seasons, Rohit has been the key to MI’s success. Apart from winning five IPL trophies, Rohit supported young players like Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah and helped assemble this team from the ground up. But every team changes with time and keeps an eye on the future; at MI, the management believed that this was the appropriate moment to pass the torch to Hardik and lead the squad into a new era.

However, with Hardik, concerns over Rohit’s future have increased. He embodies the saying “once an MI, always an MI,” but there’s a new dynamic because of his wife Ritika Sajdeh’s Instagram posts and the fact that Rohit and Hardik haven’t been spotted together in the MI camp or during practice. Only he, or, at most, the team interested, knows if Rohit decides to make that move. However, Rayudu emphasized once more that if all sides can reach a consensus, the door is still open. “I stated that it was my opinion or want. I didn’t say he would play for the Chennai Super Kings. Ultimately, it is up to CSK and Rohit; however, traveling from Mumbai to CSK isn’t too tough. CSK is a fantastic team to play for, and the transfer is quite seamless because Harbhajan Singh and I did it. If Rohit decides to make the move, I’m sure he’ll have a blast in his final years of competition,” Rayudu stated on Star Sports.

Who all has made the switch from MI to CSK?

Players other than Rayudu and Harbhajan Singh have also moved from MI to CSK. In actuality, Dwayne Bravo was the first to achieve this. After playing for Mumbai for two seasons, he joined CSK before the 2010 Indian Premier League, and after Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni, he became the team’s biggest star. Two additional players who made the switch from MI to CSK are Karn Sharma and Dwayne Smith. While they didn’t have the same level of success, their moves showed that it’s not as difficult as it might seem to go from blue to yellow. Although the fan rivalry between MI and CSK is unheard of, the two teams have always had positive relationships with their players. How do you feel? Would you rather that Rohit enlist in the Yellow Army and play his final IPL season there? If the hypothesis comes true, what a sight it will be!
