BCCI Secretary Jay Shah Unveils ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ Following India’s 4-1 Series Triumph Over England

The secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah, announced a new program that will be implemented starting in the 2023–24 season for the senior men’s team and will encourage athletes to compete in the longest format as India went on to secure an overwhelming victory over England in the final Test at Dharamsala. On X, the secretary of the BCCI tweeted from his official account. “A step aimed at providing financial growth and stability to our esteemed athletes” was how he described the program. Mr. Shah went on to say that the “Test Cricket Incentive Scheme” will serve as an additional reward system on top of the present match cost for Test matches, which is fixed at INR 15 lakhs.

Following India’s stunning 4-1 victory over England in the series’ final Test match played at Dharmsala, the statement was issued right away. Following their defeat in Hyderabad in the first Test match, Rohit Sharma’s squad bounced back. The home squad found young talent like Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, Devdutt Padikkal, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who have succeeded on both the field and in run scoring. Jaiswal proceeded to win the Player of the Series award after amassing 712 runs in five matches. In addition, he earned two double centuries, three fifties, and 26 maximums.
