In Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, a massive explosion at a firecracker manufacturing factory on Saturday resulted in the tragic deaths of at least six workers. Hours earlier, in the early hours of Friday, a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanker capsized on the Avinashi Road overpass in Coimbatore, causing yet another catastrophic accident. Although there was a little gas leak as a result of the mishap, thankfully no one was hurt, according to Coimbatore district collector Kranthi Kumar Pati. The tanker had broken away from its vehicle as it navigated the roundabout of the overpass.
Traffic in the central part of the city was temporarily stopped by the impact. Schools inside a 500-meter to 1-kilometer span of the mishap scene were encouraged to remain shut for the day as a precaution.
