Rahul Gandhi Labels Charges Against Prajwal Revanna ‘Not a Sex Scandal but Mass Rape’

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress party, stated on Thursday that the case involving Prajwal Revanna, the MP from Hassan, Karnataka, is about “mass rape” rather than just a “sex scandal.” The Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi came under fire from him as well for their coalition with the Janata Dal (Secular) [JD(S)] and their efforts to secure votes for a “mass rapist.” A’mass rapist’ is the candidate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is running for office. Gandhi stated this at a polling place in Shivmogga, Karnataka: “Prakwal Revanna raped hundreds of women and made their obscene videos.” ” And Narendra Modi, speaking from a crowded platform, says, ‘This rapist will benefit from your vote.'”

He also charged that the prime minister was aiding the grandson of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, Revanna, in his attempt to flee India. “PM Modi did not stop Prajwal Revanna from traveling to Germany, even after he sexually assaulted hundreds of women,” Gandhi stated. “This is ‘Modi’s guarantee.’ PM Modi has all the tools, but he let the mass rapists travel to Germany.” The BJP would defend anyone who commits mass rape or is a corrupt leader. The grandson of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, Prajwal Revanna, the current MP from Hassan, has been accused of appearing in alleged sex films. In Hassan, the Lok Sabha constituency from which he is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-JD (S) candidate, thousands of pen drives purportedly carrying footage of his alleged sexual assaults were distributed.

In his home and workplace, Prajwal is said to have recorded the majority of the cassettes. Before HD Kumaraswamy distanced himself from the records and said the police were looking into the matter, the Gowda family and the BJP claimed the recordings were doctored to harm the family’s reputation before the elections. To look into the claims, the Karnataka government assembled a special investigation team (SIT). On the day the Karnataka Police established the SIT, Prajwal Revanna says the films were manipulated and departed for Frankfurt. Using his diplomatic passport, he is reportedly traveling overseas. Revanna received a Tuesday suspension from the organization. There is also a watch list against Prajwal Revanna posted at all immigration checkpoints in India.
